Android device security is more than just adding a PIN. Here I give you seven important tips based on different points of view to ensure the safety of your Android phone or tablet.
(1) Add screen lock:
Adding a screen lock is an important measure to ensure the security of Android devices. Nowadays, Android devices allow you to set PIN lock, password lock, design lock, unique fingerprint or eye scanner as your lock screen. First, go to Settings > Security > Screen Lock.
(2) Lock individual applications:
In addition, to prevent unauthorized access to your personal applications, you can protect them with applications such as App Lock. This application can lock Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Gallery, Gmail, SMS, Settings, Contacts, Calls and some other applications you need.
App lock allows you to set key, sample, or unique token lock for a single app (Android 6.0+ only).
(3) Download applications from trusted sources:
Of course, you are not allowed to download apps from outside the Google Play Store onto your Android device. Supposing you need to download apps from different platforms, then go to “Settings” > “Security” > “Device Manager” and click “Unknown Sources”.
It is worth noting that apps downloaded from a non-Google Play Store are beyond Google’s control. Therefore, always download applications from trusted platforms.
(4) Manage application permissions:
An important benefit of downloading an application from Google Play is that you are told which authorizations must be provided before the application is introduced. Usually the application will grant you access to your files, contacts or other information for valid reasons, but if you accept that the application is pointlessly asking you for a specific authorization, do not enter it.
In Android Marshmallow, you don’t have to double license your stuff when you introduce the application, and all conditions are equal, you will be prompted to do this when you run it for the first time.
(5) Keep the Android operating system and applications up to date
Updates to the Android operating system and applications allow you to appreciate the new highlights, as well as fixes to security vulnerabilities.
For the latest information, visit the Google Play Store and click the menu button. Now click Settings > General > Auto Refresh and choose a reasonable setting. Most Android clients with limited information can choose to “Automatically update apps over Wi-Fi”.
To introduce new updates to the working framework, go to Settings > About phone > System refresh.
(6) Use Secure Wi-Fi:
When you are not at home, your device receives Wi-Fi signals in many public places (such as taverns, lodgings and bars). However, they are not reliable to use. Regardless of whether an organization guarantees confidentiality, you are passing it on to many others, which could put your information at risk. Therefore, always use a secured Wi-Fi organization.
